Variable Distribution PlotΒΆ
The distributions of multiple variables can be viewed and compared. Distributions are shown as box plots (the default), stripcharts, kernel density plots, or violin plots.
The same types of plots can be created using the Plot/General dialog, but that dialog plots the distribution of only a single variable, optionally subdivided by a grouping variable. This dialog plots the distributions of multiple variables.
The variables to be plotted are chosen by clicking on them in the list on the left side of the dialog. Control-click and Shift-click combinations can be used to select multiple variables.
The checkboxes above the list of variables can be used to specify
Whether all of the data should be used, or only the data values highlighted on the map and in the table.
Whether the data should be log10-transformed before plotting.
Values for all of the selected variables should be in the same units so that the distributions are comparable.
The opacity (alpha value) of symbols on stripcharts and kernel density plots can be modified with the Alt-A keystroke. A plot title can be added with the Alt-T keystroke, and X and Y axis labels can be added with the Alt-X and Alt-Y keystrokes, respectively.
